The Saratoga Restaurant was recently named a “historic small restaurant” for 2022 by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and American Express. They are 1 of only 25 restaurants nationwide to be named. This honor also comes with a $40,000 grant to use for the business. Tears of happiness were an understatement for the couple when they found out. This has been a family business for over 80 years. They have given their all to serve the community and develop long-time relationships, both business and personal. The Azar’s especially love to see the growth and development in downtown Terre Haute. When asked “What do you think makes Terre Haute different from other communities” Cathy stated, “Haute hospitality is one of a kind. The community works collectively to put people first with all the unique styles that are offered. This is a welcoming community for out-of-towners and it is important to make those experiences memorable. It is also amazing to see so many come together in times of need. I think it’s safe to say that most people want to see Terre Haute thrive and offer exceptional resources.” George and Cathy’s nominator says, “They are exceptional people with an open book policy. They treat everyone with the same generosity, stranger or not. To know them is an honor. They work very hard to keep their business successful with the changing times. They are such a positive influence in our community and I definitely think Terre Haute is a little better because of their big hearts and giving personalities!” When the Azar’s aren’t serving delicious food on Wabash Ave they are preparing catering meals, spending time with family, and creating new and tasty dishes for their menu.We are honored to recognize extraordinary dedicated individuals like George and Cathy
